With the requirement to implement Basel IV, Australian banks will face a plethora of complex issues, notably, fragmented data infrastructure, lack of consolidation, reporting, and compliance.
It’s imperative that the banks have a well thought out Basel IV implementation plan and prepare for the challenges ahead.

Peter Deans retired in May 2019 after seven years as group chief risk officer of the Bank of Queensland in Australia and a finance career spanning 32 years. He now undertakes selected risk and strategy advisory engagements in the financial services, corporate, start-up and technology sectors. Deans is a regular public speaker on the topics of risk management, ethics, technology and regulatory and compliance topics. He is the founder of the 52 Risks management framework and a non-executive director of The RegTech Association in Australia.

Vidya Bittianda
General Manager, Risk Analytics and Insights
Westpac
Vidya Bittianda is the General Manager for Risk Analytics & Insights for Westpac Banking Corporation. Ms. Bittianda is responsible for Market and Liquidity Risk Management, Model Risk Management, all wholesale and retail modelling for the Bank including rating models, decision models, stress testing, provisioning, capital and risk appetite and Regulatory Reporting for Risk. This role is also responsible for Credit Risk Data Quality with emphasis on how data is used and modelled to manage risk, gain insights and reporting.
Prior to this, Ms. Bittianda was the Group General Manager for Risk Metrics at ANZ Banking Group Limited, responsible for all credit modelling, stress testing, provisioning, capital and risk appetite. Vidya was the Chief Risk Officer, Europe and EMEA at ANZ Banking Group Limited for four years from 2013 to 2017. As CRO EMEA, Ms. Bittianda was responsible for ensuring the financial and reputational integrity of the ANZ Group of businesses through the effective treatment and mitigation of risk in the areas of credit, market, operational, technology, liquidity, strategic and compliance for the region.
Before assuming the role of Chief Risk Officer in 2013, she held the positions of Global Head of Counterparty Credit & Financial Institutions, Global Head of Market Risk and Head of Credit, Financial Institutions & Markets.
Ms. Bittianda graduated in 1990 form Bangalore University with a Bachelor of Engineering and holds a Master of Applied Finance from Melbourne University.

Donna is currently the Chief Operating Officer at GenVis Pty Limited and, also currently serves as a Non-executive Director on the boards of a number of organisations in the financial services, education, compliance and risk management sectors.
Donna previously held senior leadership positions at Bank of Queensland as the Chief Digital and Information Officer, IAG where she was Group General Manager, Group Digital and Group CIO, and prior to that, Donna was the Chief Operations and Information Officer of Westpac’s Institutional Bank for four and half years. Donna has also held many global executive management roles at Citigroup over a span of fifteen years, including Regional CIO and Global Head of Technology Risk Management.
Outside of her corporate roles, Donna actively works with not-for-profit organisations in both formal and informal capacities across healthcare, education and community services, to support her passion of paying it forward and making a societal impact.
In 2019, Donna was awarded Cisco’s Women in IT, 2019 CIO of the Year Award.

Jamie Lloyd Evans

Jamie is seasoned financial services practitioner who has experience as a banker, regulator, and advisor in the fintech space. Most recently, he led the Financial Institutions Group at Citigroup in Singapore and Hong Kong, straddling both the investment banking and corporate banking businesses. Prior to this, Jamie held policy roles at both the MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) and the UK’s FSA (Financial Services Authority), where he advised on all aspects of prudential regulation for banks and insurers, particularly in the areas of capital adequacy and corporate treasury.
